1916 Stories

As part of the 2016 Commemoration Events artist Michael Fortune has been commissioned by The Arts Department of Wexford
County Council to produce a new body of short films based on the
personal and un-documented histories and stories of the 1916 Rising in Wexford. Many of these stories have been lost in the midst of time or only known by immediate relatives, however Michael is charged with this task of animating and bringing this new material to life for the counties 2016 Commemoration Events. In 2013 he produced a similar body of films for the council for the JFK Homecoming Event.

Location and Date

The Athenaeum

The completed films will be shown in the Athenaeum
in Enniscorthy on Easter Monday and will also be available online.

This is one of four projects Fortune has been commissioned to
undertake throughout the county.
